DZ-44610 is the youngest member of the #IsleOfWightGarrison. However trooping with the Empire hasn't stopped her working up to 15 hour shifts as community carer.
It's her responsibility to aid vulnerable people in their homes who are spread across the local district. As well as safeguarding people with their specific needs, she also helps boost their mental wellbeing. As many of the people who have been required to isolate, are currently unable to see their loved ones face to face.

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our friend and Garrison team mate, Glenn Arnold. If you have ever seen Darth Vader at one of our events in the past, this would have been Glenn. He was one of The Isle of Wight’s original Stormtroopers, which was very much at the birth of the costuming scene on the island.
Glenn was always a valued member of the club who stuck with us from the creation of the Vectis Remnant Squad in the UK Garrison, right through to our transition to The Isle of Wight Garrison.
He was a man not to rush things, but always turned up at the right time to the delight of many fans. If there was a kettle or tea urn around, Glenn would never be far from it. He was always happy to bend an ear or two with a quip of amusing tales and heart-warming but sarcastic put downs.
His interests included model making, science fiction, horror and most definitely Star Wars! However Glenn's biggest passion was most certainly motorcycles and he owned more variations of bikes over the years than we could possibly recollect.
As a multi-talented artist and renowned as a superb model builder. Glenn gave the finishing touches to our full sized props including Luke Skywalker's Landspeeder, which was displayed at Star Wars Celebration in 2016 and hand painted some of the 'creatures' including Watto who still appears at many of our events. Glenn also gave invaluable advice to many of our friend's costumes and was happy to help out, without expecting anything in return.

As our longest running member and the original Darth Vader for the Garrison, Glenn Arnold's boots are large ones to fill, but the memories of every troop and every smile from the thousands of people he met along the way will always remain in our hearts.

The 501st legion supports many major charities, but we also help individuals a lot closer to home... Over the last 12 months Deb Fredericks had been battling an extreme form of cancer and although the cancer was removed, it left her with life changing injuries.
Katie, Ross and her friends decideded they should do something to help.
Katie put together a package to raise money for Deb and eventually raised over £5,000 in the matter of a few months.
